Why ATX for Attorneys
Built for the standards your firm expects.
A lawyer's headshot does specific work. It runs alongside opposing counsel on case opposition pages, sits next to partner photos on firm bio pages, fills space on bar association directories, and shows up first when prospective clients search your name. Every session is shot with that weight in mind.
Conservative styling, modern execution.Legal headshots have to read as credible across courtroom, firm website, and LinkedIn audiences simultaneously. We coach a polished, modern look that holds up across all three without veering into trendy or casual.
Match your firm's existing style. If your firm already has a directory of partner headshots on a specific background, lighting, and crop, we can match it so new associate or partner photos blend seamlessly with the existing team page.
On-location at your firm or in our studio.Studio sessions in Cedar Park for individual attorneys, on-location sessions at your downtown Austin office for partners and team groups who can't easily leave the firm.
Background Matching
Match your firm's existing headshot library.
Most firms already have a directory of partner and associate headshots on their website. New attorney photos that don't match the existing background, lighting, and crop stand out for the wrong reasons. We offer custom background matching so a new headshot blends seamlessly into your firm's existing team page.
- Match the firm's directory style.Send us an example partner photo from your firm's website. We match the background color, tone, and feel so the new headshot looks like it was shot in the same session as the rest of the team.
- Replace a difficult on-location backdrop. If the conference room, office wall, or available shooting space at your firm isn't right for a headshot, we shoot in studio and replace the background with something that fits your firm's brand.
- Custom firm-branded backgrounds.Match your firm's brand colors, a specific tone called for in firm guidelines, or a backdrop that holds up across bar directories and LinkedIn alike. We discuss the details when you book.

What to Expect
Three steps from arrival to delivery.
Arrive and prepare.
Arrive at the Cedar Park studio or we arrive at your firm. We talk through how you plan to use the photo, what your firm's existing partner photos look like, and any wardrobe or background standards your firm requires. Then we get you in front of the lights.
Full coaching, every shot.
Posture, chin angle, expression, hand placement. You don't have to know how to pose. We direct every shot and adjust as we go, working toward an expression that holds up across firm bios, bar directories, and LinkedIn alike.
Live image review.
Review every shot during the session and choose your favorites before you leave. Selected images are then retouched, sized for firm websites and bar directories, and delivered ready to upload.
The Attorney Standard
What makes an attorney headshot actually work.
01
Match your firm's directory.
When your headshot sits next to other partners on a firm bio page, it has to look like it belongs in the same set. Background tone, lighting style, and crop should match, or your photo stands out for the wrong reasons. We can match an existing firm directory style on request.
02
Professional but not stiff.
A lawyer's headshot has to project credibility, but old-school courtroom-formal expressions read as cold to modern clients. The right expression is calm, direct, and confident, an expression that holds up in person at a deposition and on a website at the same time.
03
Conservative wardrobe, no risks.
Solid dark suit, white or light blue shirt, conservative tie or simple jewelry. Avoid loud patterns, bright colors, and trendy cuts that date the photo within a year or two. The goal is a headshot that works on a firm website for the next three to five years without looking obviously of its time.
04
Crop and aspect ratio matter.
Bar association directories often crop tight to the face. Firm websites use a different aspect ratio. LinkedIn applies a circle crop. We compose every shot with enough space around the head and shoulders so the same image works across every required crop without losing critical detail.
05
Retouching that holds up.
Over-retouched lawyer photos read as fake immediately, which is the opposite of what a credibility shot should do. Every image we deliver is retouched by hand, never run through a filter. The goal is the best version of you on a really good day, not a different person.
06
Built to last three to five years.
A strong attorney headshot has a useful lifespan of three to five years. Update sooner if you've made partner, switched firms, or your appearance has changed significantly. The cost of a dated firm bio photo is higher than the cost of a fresh session.
Our Guarantee
If something feels off, we make it right.
Every attorney session is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You see your photos during the session, not days later, so there are no surprises. If something isn't working, we adjust on the spot. And if you leave the studio without an image you're proud to use on your firm bio, bar profile, or LinkedIn, we'll reshoot at no charge.
Common Questions
Everything you need before booking.
Do you photograph at our firm or in your studio?
Both. Most individual attorneys come to the Cedar Park studio, but we also travel to law firms across Austin for partner sessions, team sessions, and any situation where it's easier for the firm to schedule a photographer at the office than to send attorneys offsite. We bring a full mobile lighting and backdrop setup so the on-location result matches studio quality.
Can you match our firm's existing partner headshots?
Yes. Send us an example partner photo from your firm's website. We match the background tone, lighting style, and crop so a new headshot for an associate, lateral hire, or recently promoted partner blends seamlessly into the existing firm directory. This is one of the most common requests we handle.
How often should I update my attorney headshot?
A strong attorney headshot has a useful lifespan of three to five years. Update sooner if you've made partner, lateraled to a new firm, or your appearance has changed significantly. The cost of a dated firm bio photo is higher than the cost of a fresh session, especially when you're being evaluated alongside opposing counsel on case opposition pages.
What should I wear for a lawyer headshot?
Conservative is the safest direction. Solid dark suit, white or light blue shirt, and a conservative tie for men. Solid dark blazer or suit jacket and simple jewelry for women. Avoid loud patterns, bright colors, and trendy cuts that date the photo within a year or two. We send a wardrobe guide when you book and keep adjustments on hand at the studio.
How long does an attorney headshot session take?
The Express Attorney Session is 20 minutes. The Professional Attorney Session is up to 1 hour. The Partner Branding Session is 2 hours. On-location sessions at your firm typically take a comparable amount of time per attorney, plus setup and breakdown. For team sessions of 5 or more attorneys, we recommend reviewing our team session details.
Can you photograph our entire practice group or partner team?
Yes. We photograph law firm teams of 5 to 50+ attorneys, either on-location at your firm or in our studio. For multi-attorney sessions, please see our team session page for details, or call the studio directly at 512-790-8298 to discuss pricing and scheduling.
Will my photo work on bar association directories?
Yes. Bar directories typically require a tight crop on the face with neutral backgrounds and standard professional dress. Every session is composed with enough space around the head and shoulders that the same image works across bar directory crops, firm website crops, and LinkedIn's circle crop without losing critical detail. Selected images are delivered in formats ready for all three.
Can you bill my firm directly?
Yes. We provide standard receipts and invoices for reimbursement, and we can bill firms directly for partner sessions or attorney headshots paid by the firm. Net 30 terms are available on request for established firms and procurement-managed bookings.
Do you offer same-day or rush delivery?
Standard retouching turnaround is 3-5 business days after you select your favorite images. Rush options are available for attorneys with deadline-driven needs (firm announcements, press features, conference materials). Call the studio to discuss rush availability.
How does retouching work and how much does it cost?
Retouching is selected and purchased after your session. You see every shot during your session and choose your favorites. Pricing: 1 image $125, 2 images $225, 3 images $300, 5 images $475, 10 images $850. Most attorneys select 2 to 5 images for retouching. Retouching includes blemish removal, glasses glare reduction, teeth whitening, stray hairs, and clothing adjustments, all done by hand and kept natural.
What's your rescheduling and cancellation policy?
Sessions can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before your appointment at no charge. Cancellations within 48 hours forfeit the booking deposit. We're flexible with genuine scheduling emergencies. Just call the studio directly at 512-790-8298.
Where is the studio located?
The ATX Headshots studio is at 600 S. Bell Blvd, Suite 7, Cedar Park, TX 78613. We're about 25 minutes from downtown Austin and easily accessible from 183 and 1431. Free dedicated parking directly in front of the studio. For attorneys who prefer not to leave the office, we travel to law firms across the Austin area.
